Mike Tyson recently admitted that he doesn’t recall much of his highly-publicized boxing match against Jake Paul, which aired on Netflix and became the most-streamed sporting event in history. In an interview on The Covino & Rich Show, Tyson revealed he remembers coming back from the first round but little else, including the moment Paul bowed in respect at the end of the fight. The 58-year-old boxing legend admitted waking up the next day sore and questioning why he participated, saying, “I just don’t know what the hell was going on.”
The fight, held at AT&T Stadium in Texas, was watched live by over 108 million viewers and featured Tyson taking on the YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, who is 31 years his junior. Despite holding his own in the early rounds, Tyson’s age began to show, and Paul emerged victorious. Tyson’s record now stands at 50 wins and seven losses, while Paul improved his record to 11 wins and one loss.
After the match, Tyson expressed gratitude for the experience but admitted in private that his wife and son believe he is done with boxing. His son, Amir, publicly stated, “He’s done. That’s husband and wife stuff.”
The bout has sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning its legitimacy. Paul’s promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions, strongly denied rigging allegations, clarifying the fight was sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and both fighters performed with full effort. Despite Tyson’s concerns, the event remains a historic moment in boxing entertainment.
