Netflix enthusiasts are taking to social media to express their excitement over a newly released dystopian action film.
For those who quickly devoured a recent dystopian gem on Netflix featuring “Top Boy’s” Kane Robinson and were left craving more, the streaming giant has delivered yet another thrilling addition to its roster.
The film boasts a cast including Don Lee from “Eternals,” Lee Hee-jun of “Chimera,” K-pop star Lee Jun-young, and Roh Jeong-eui from “Our Beloved Summers.” It marks the directorial debut of martial arts choreographer Heo Myeong-haeng and is penned by Kim Bo-tong, known for “D.P.,” alongside Kwak Jae-min.
Netflix describes the film as follows: “After a deadly earthquake turns Seoul into a lawless badland, a fearless huntsman springs into action to rescue a teenager abducted by a mad doctor.” Further details from Netflix’s Tudum reveal the setting is three years after the earthquake, with the Bus District harboring survivors, ‘massive crocodiles,’ and ‘rogue gangs.’ The presence of crocodiles and ‘deadly experiments on humans’ adds to the allure for action aficionados.
Though the movie, titled “Badland Hunters,” only hit Netflix last week, it has already achieved a respectable Tomatometer rating of 73 percent, despite a more modest audience score of 52 percent. Viewers have quickly taken to X to share their thoughts on this South Korean action spectacle.
One viewer praised, “One of the most exciting aspects of Badland Hunters in terms of action was director Heo Myeong-haeng utilizing more than just Don Lee’s fists to show his tremendous action chops and abilities as a performer, by varying up the weaponry, he created a new style of action for him.”
Another recommended, “Badland Hunters 2024. I’m recommending for you, 10/10.”
Echoing the sentiment, a third user remarked, “One last hunt to save us all. Must watch movie for action movie lovers !”
