Nicole Kidman recently opened up about filming her new erotic drama, Babygirl, sharing that some of the intense scenes became overwhelming. In the film, Kidman plays a high-powered CEO named Rommy who risks her career by starting an affair with a much younger intern, Samuel, portrayed by Harris Dickinson. Discussing the emotional toll of shooting explicit scenes, Kidman said, “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm anymore.’” She candidly added, “Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it.”
The actress described the challenges of constantly being in a heightened state for these scenes, which led to feelings of burnout. Reflecting on the experience, she said there was a “huge amount of trust” involved between her and her co-star to ensure the portrayal was both appropriate and well-executed. She acknowledged, “It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout.”
In a separate Q&A, Kidman shared how Babygirl allowed her to explore new territories as an actor. “I’ve always been on a quest as an actor, I’m always going, where have I not been?” she explained. Kidman also spoke about the importance of feeling protected on set, with the director assuring her, “Nothing that’s going to be in the film will be anything that you are not comfortable with. You are going to be okay.”
Despite the intensity, Kidman found the experience liberating and pushed herself as an artist. The film, which explores power dynamics and risky decisions, is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day. Fans can expect a daring performance from Kidman in a role that takes her into uncharted territory.
