South Korean Olympic shooter Kim Ye-ji, who recently won a silver medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, collapsed during a press conference in South Korea. The collapse was attributed to exhaustion and stress following her intense participation in the Olympics. Ye-ji, who had narrowly missed out on the gold by just 1.9 points, lost consciousness during the press event held in Imsil, located in the southern part of the country.

After regaining consciousness, she was rushed to the hospital for further medical evaluation. Despite initial reports claiming that she had received CPR, officials clarified that she had not undergone the procedure. Ye-ji is currently under observation in the hospital until she fully recovers.

Ye-ji gained significant attention during the Olympics, not only for her performance but also for her distinctive style, wearing futuristic-looking glasses that earned her the nickname “smiling assassin” in South Korea. She even received praise from Elon Musk, who commented on her cool demeanor, suggesting she should be cast in an action movie. Ye-ji responded graciously, thanking Musk for the unexpected attention.

However, despite the admiration she has received, Ye-ji expressed disappointment over her performance in the 25-meter event, where she was eliminated after making a timing mistake. Holding the world record in the women’s 25m air pistol event, she apologized to her fans, feeling that she had let them down with her error.
