The surviving members of One Direction gathered on Tuesday for an emotional farewell to their bandmate Liam Payne, who tragically passed away last month. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson joined Payne’s loved ones for a private service at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, England. Payne, 31, died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16.

The funeral procession featured a horse-drawn carriage carrying a dark blue coffin adorned with silver handles and white roses. Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen, stood solemnly by the carriage, alongside floral tributes that read “Son” and “Daddy,” in honor of Payne’s 7-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with Cheryl Tweedy. Mourners included Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, as well as celebrity attendees like Simon Cowell and James Corden.

The band, formed in 2010 through The X-Factor, achieved global fame but disbanded in 2016. Payne struggled with mental health and addiction after the group’s split. Argentine authorities revealed he had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time of his death. Charges have been filed against three individuals in connection with his passing.

Fans and locals gathered outside the church to pay their respects, reflecting the deep impact Payne and One Direction had on millions worldwide. Despite Payne’s challenges post-breakup, his legacy as a key member of one of the world’s biggest boy bands remains cherished.
