A photograph dubbed the “best UFO picture ever taken” has resurfaced 50 years after it was captured by aerial photographer Sergio Loaiza during a research flight over Lake Cote, Costa Rica, in 1971. While taking photos for a hydroelectric project at 10,000 feet, Loaiza’s camera caught a single frame showing a saucer-shaped object hovering over the lake. Neither Loaiza nor the pilot noticed the object during the flight, and it appeared in only one frame of the film, which was captured in 20-second intervals.
Despite theories from skeptics suggesting the image could be a trick of the light or a reflection, no one has been able to definitively explain the object, making it one of the most compelling pieces of UFO evidence. The photo was described by Leslie Kean, an investigative journalist and paranormal author, as “the best photograph of a UFO ever taken,” and it has been held in possession of the Costa Rican government, ensuring its authenticity.
Oscar Sierra, a UFO researcher based in Costa Rica, supports Kean’s assessment, stating that the clear reflection of the sun on the object adds to its credibility. The photograph, with its mysterious origins and clear depiction of an unexplained object, continues to intrigue those interested in the search for extraterrestrial life.
While the true nature of the object remains unknown, the Loaiza photograph remains a significant piece of evidence in the ongoing debate and curiosity surrounding UFOs and potential extraterrestrial visitors.
