A close friend of Princess Diana, Richard Dalton, has dismissed the long-standing rumors that James Hewitt is Prince Harry’s biological father. Dalton, who served as Diana’s hairdresser for over a decade, stated that the gossip was hurtful and “not possible” since Harry was born in 1984, two years before Diana met Hewitt. He emphasized that red hair runs in the Spencer family, pointing out that both Diana’s brother and sisters had similar coloring. Dalton also recalled how the rumors deeply upset Diana, who had to deal with constant speculation without being able to publicly defend herself.

The rumors have persisted for decades, fueled by Harry’s ginger hair and physical resemblance to Hewitt. However, Dalton, along with Hewitt himself, has repeatedly denied these claims. Hewitt confirmed that his relationship with Diana began years after Harry’s birth, stressing that the rumors were false and designed to sell tabloids. Prince Harry, who has addressed this speculation in his memoir Spare, described how painful and damaging the gossip was, especially during his teenage years after losing his mother.

Dalton’s recent remarks aim to set the record straight once again, highlighting the emotional toll that such baseless rumors took on Diana and Harry. Despite the persistent rumors and tabloid speculation, both Dalton and Hewitt have maintained that there is no truth to the story, and that Prince Charles is indeed Harry’s father.
