Natalie Stichova, a 23-year-old Czech gymnast, tragically fell to her death while attempting to take a selfie near Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. On August 15, Stichova slipped and fell 80 meters (about 260 feet) down the Tegelberg Mountain, a popular tourist spot. Despite being airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, she was later taken off life support due to extensive brain damage and passed away on August 21.

Stichova was with her boyfriend and two friends at the time of the accident. According to a friend, she was standing close to the edge of the mountain when she either slipped or the rock edge gave way. The tragic event has left her friends, family, and her gymnastics club, Sokol Pribram Sports Gymnastics, in deep mourning. The club released a heartfelt statement expressing their sorrow and commemorating Stichova’s life and her contributions as a gymnast and coach.

Her mother described Natalie as a beloved individual, known for her kindness and positive spirit. The family has invited people to light a candle at their gymnasium to honor her memory. This tragic incident is not the first to occur at Neuschwanstein Castle, a location known for its breathtaking views and challenging climbs.

The area has seen other accidents, including a fatal incident last year involving a tourist named Eva Liu, who was murdered and thrown into a ravine. This history of accidents underscores the dangers associated with some of the castle’s more remote and hazardous areas.
