Spanish rapper Dan Sur, known for surgically implanting gold chains into his scalp to resemble hair, has been facing serious health warnings from medical experts. The procedure, which he underwent in 2021, involves hooks implanted into his skull that support the chains, but doctors have expressed concerns about the significant health risks associated with this modification. Plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Agullo cautioned that such implants could introduce dangerous bacteria, potentially leading to severe infections and even damage to the skull. He also highlighted the risk of the chains causing fractures or dislodging if accidentally tugged.
Dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara echoed these concerns, warning that the implants could lead to permanent hair loss due to scarring and inflammation of the scalp. Despite these risks, Dan Sur has continued to sport his metal locks for three years without reporting any health complications. He has even switched up the look with different colored chains, including silver and multi-colored options.
Though he seems to enjoy his bold and unique style, experts strongly advise against others following in his footsteps. Dr. Agullo suggested safer alternatives, such as using wigs or temporary attachments, rather than surgically anchoring chains to the skull.
Despite repeated warnings, it appears Dan Sur has no plans to remove the chains anytime soon, continuing to show off his metallic mane on social media.
