Robert De Niro has shared heartfelt sentiments about the joy his seventh child, Gia, has brought into his life.
The esteemed 80-year-old actor, known for his illustrious film career, recently welcomed Gia, his first child with girlfriend Tiffany Chen. De Niro, who has six other children from previous relationships, subtly announced Gia’s arrival during a promotional interview for his film “About My Father,” correcting an interviewer who mentioned his six children by stating, “seven actually, I just had a baby.”
Gia’s introduction to the public came when CBS Mornings host Gayle King revealed her name and shared a photo, noting that De Niro and Chen were “over the moon” about their daughter.
In a conversation with AARP, De Niro expressed the profound impact fatherhood has had on him at this stage in his life, stating, “It feels great.” He elaborated on the transformative effect Gia has on him, saying, “Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at her. It’s wondrous. When she gets older – who knows? But that very sweet way she has of looking at you, taking you in, thinking and watching and observing.”
Chen, in a previous discussion with CBS Mornings about pregnancy and post-partum health, highlighted De Niro’s deep love for his family as one of his most admirable qualities.
Despite being 80, De Niro remains active in the film industry, with his recent role in “Killers of the Flower Moon” earning him an Oscar nomination. The film, another collaboration with director Martin Scorsese, has received multiple nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Scorsese. De Niro praised the experience of working with Scorsese, remarking, “It’s always a great pleasure to work with Marty,” reflecting their longstanding and successful partnership in cinema.
