Rupert Grint has revealed that he would be open to reprising his role as Ron Weasley—under two conditions. The Harry Potter star said he would only return if the timing was right and if the rest of the original cast came back as well.

Grint, who played Ron from the age of 11, admitted that the character became a big part of his identity. “I’m protective of him as well. It was my whole childhood,” he said. However, he emphasized that he wouldn’t return unless Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and other key actors were also involved.

Warner Bros.

Radcliffe previously addressed the idea of returning, saying he isn’t “seeking it out in any way” but supports the franchise’s future. With Warner Bros. focusing on a new Harry Potter TV series, it seems unlikely the original trio will reunite on screen anytime soon.

Still, Grint’s comments have fueled fan excitement. If the conditions were ever met, a return of the original cast would be a dream come true for many longtime Harry Potter fans.
