A man was shot by Secret Service agents near the White House after brandishing a firearm during a confrontation. Authorities say the man, who traveled from Indiana, was identified as a potential suicide risk before the incident. When officers approached him around midnight at 17th and G Streets NW, he pulled out a weapon, leading agents to open fire.

The suspect was taken to the hospital, but his condition remains unknown. No one else was injured, and President Donald Trump was in Florida at the time. The D.C. Metropolitan Police’s Internal Affairs Division is now investigating the shooting, as is standard procedure for officer-involved incidents.

This comes just days after a separate security scare at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida, where reports of gunfire prompted a lockdown. Though no shooter was found, the response reflected heightened security concerns following past incidents at the base.
