A sexual assault lawsuit against Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs has been voluntarily dropped by the plaintiff, a Jane Doe, who had accused them of assaulting her at an afterparty in 2000. The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled in the future.

Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, celebrated the dismissal, stating that Jay-Z “never settled, never paid a penny, and cleared his name.” The rapper had previously denied the claims and even urged the accuser to file a criminal complaint rather than a civil lawsuit. His legal team had repeatedly pushed to have the case dismissed before the plaintiff withdrew it.

The original lawsuit was first filed against Diddy in October 2024, accusing him of drugging and raping the then-13-year-old plaintiff. Jay-Z was later added as a defendant in December. Diddy’s lawyers called the lawsuit “built on falsehoods” but noted that he is still facing more than 40 other sexual assault claims, with some tied to sex trafficking charges.

While Doe’s legal team has not commented on why she withdrew the case, her attorney previously admitted that inconsistencies existed in her recollection. Despite this, he maintained that his client “remains fiercely adamant” that the assault occurred.
