Shannon Sharpe recently admitted to accidentally live-streaming an intimate moment on Instagram to his 3.2 million followers. Initially, Sharpe claimed his account had been hacked but later confessed it was a technical mistake on his part. The Hall of Famer explained that he had unknowingly gone live while engaging in sexual activity, and over 5,000 viewers tuned in before the stream was shut down.
Sharpe expressed deep embarrassment and disappointment in himself during an emergency episode of his podcast Nightcap. He emphasized that while the act itself wasn’t unusual, the accidental exposure of such a private moment was mortifying. He acknowledged that many people expect him to be professional at all times, adding to his embarrassment.
His marketing partner, Jamie Fritz, was the first to alert Sharpe about the incident. Despite the awkward situation, Sharpe managed to find humor in it, even joking with co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, who teased him for his phone mishap. Johnson noted that Sharpe has accidentally butt-dialed him multiple times before, making the mistake somewhat less surprising.
Sharpe took full responsibility for the incident, admitting his lack of technical knowledge with Instagram Live. Although embarrassing, Sharpe appears to be moving on from the incident with a mix of humor and humility.
