Kaya Walker, the former president of New York University’s College Republicans chapter, has spoken out after being forced to resign following comments about Barron Trump. Walker described the 18-year-old, who attends NYU’s Stern School of Business, as “sort of like an oddity on campus” in an interview with Vanity Fair. She added, “He goes to class, he goes home,” implying he kept a low profile.
Her remarks quickly sparked backlash, with the College Republicans of America (CRA) condemning them as “inappropriate” and “not aligned with our values.” Facing pressure, Walker resigned on February 16, despite expressing frustration over what she called an overreaction.

Speaking to The New York Post, Walker defended herself, saying, “I’ve been killing myself trying to support the conservative movement… It’s an uphill battle being a Republican at NYU.” She emphasized the work she had done to grow the organization’s membership and argued that her comments were taken out of context.
Barron Trump, the youngest son of Donald Trump, has been in the public eye for years but largely avoids media attention. While Walker’s remarks were not overtly critical, the controversy highlights how any discussion about Barron can quickly become political.
