Donald Trump’s senior trade advisor, Peter Navarro, has reportedly suggested “revising” the U.S.-Canada border, a move that sources close to the negotiations have labeled “crazy and dangerous.” This comes after Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian imports as part of his broader trade policies targeting Canada, Mexico, and China.
A source speaking to The Telegraph claims that Navarro is “temporarily ruling the roost” in the Oval Office due to delays in confirming other key members of Trump’s administration. As a result, Canada has reportedly paused negotiations with the U.S. government until the Senate approves the appointments of Jameson Greer and Howard Lutnick.

Navarro has denied previous reports that the U.S. was considering pushing Canada out of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance. However, his latest comments on the border have sparked concerns over worsening U.S.-Canada relations. The White House has yet to officially respond to the claims.
