Donald Trump publicly lashed out at Taylor Swift, declaring “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social after the pop star endorsed his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the 2024 election. Swift’s endorsement came following a debate between Trump and Harris, with Swift praising Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and urging her 284 million followers to research the candidates and vote.

Swift’s endorsement, which also took a jab at GOP nominee J.D. Vance, prompted swift backlash from Trump and his allies. Trump, in particular, expressed that he preferred Brittany Mahomes, wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, over Swift. Trump, known for his outbursts against celebrities who oppose him, reiterated that he has never been a fan of Swift.

Despite Swift’s influence, a post-debate poll indicated that her endorsement had little effect on voters. Only 6% said they were more likely to vote for Harris, while 13% said it made them less likely to support her. A majority of respondents, 81%, said it wouldn’t affect their decision.

Swift’s post also saw over 400,000 users visit Vote.gov to register to vote, showing her significant reach, especially among younger voters. However, while her endorsement generated buzz, it hasn’t swayed the broader electorate significantly.
