Donald Trump has signed a new executive order banning transgender women from competing in women’s sports. The order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” aims to enforce single-sex competition at all levels, including international events.

The order directs the Secretary of State to pressure the International Olympic Committee to change its policies ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. It also calls for stricter enforcement against schools and athletic associations that allow trans women in female sports or changing rooms.

Speaking before signing the order, Trump declared, “From now on, women’s sports will be only for women.” He also announced that the Department of Homeland Security would deny visas to male-born athletes seeking to compete as women in the U.S.

This is Trump’s third executive order targeting the transgender community since returning to office. Previous orders barred transgender individuals from serving in the military and from being housed in female prisons.

The move has drawn strong reactions, with supporters arguing it protects fairness in women’s sports, while critics say it discriminates against trans athletes. The International Olympic Committee has yet to respond, but outgoing president Thomas Bach previously stated they were confident they could work with the Trump administration.
