Donald Trump has revived his plan to acquire Greenland and has even proposed renaming it “Red, White, and Blueland.” The idea resurfaced after Republican Congressman Buddy Carter introduced a bill allowing Trump to enter negotiations with Denmark to purchase the autonomous territory.
Trump, who previously attempted to buy Greenland in 2019, insists that its people “want to be with us” and claims that Denmark has “no real claim” to the land. He argues that U.S. ownership of Greenland is necessary for “the protection of the free world.”

The bill, which has been referred to a congressional committee, states that Greenland would be integrated into the U.S. under its new patriotic name. Danish officials have not formally responded, but past rejections suggest they are unlikely to entertain the offer.
With Trump already renaming the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” and pushing for Canada to become the 51st state, his expansionist ambitions remain a focal point of his presidency. Whether Greenland residents support or reject the proposal remains to be seen.
