President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer have announced a new trade agreement hailed as a “historic deal” between the two longtime allies. Speaking from the Oval Office via video call, the leaders confirmed the final details are being finalized, but most major terms have already been approved.
The deal grants expanded U.S. access to UK markets, particularly in agriculture and industry. Trump noted it would dramatically boost exports of American beef, ethanol, and other farm products, calling it the first in a series of reciprocal trade deals his administration is pursuing.

Starmer praised the outcome, saying the agreement would protect and create jobs while strengthening ties with the U.S. He also underscored the symbolic significance of the announcement coming exactly 80 years after Victory in Europe Day, noting the continued alignment of the two nations.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the deal could bring $5 billion in new export opportunities for American companies while the 10% tariffs on UK goods will still generate billions in U.S. revenue. According to Lutnick, the agreement was designed to boost trade without undermining UK workers or industries.
