Vegan Bride Uninvited all Meat-Eating Family and Friends from Wedding

A 20-year-old bride’s decision to uninvite meat-eating guests from her all-vegan wedding has stirred up significant controversy online. The bride, a member of the Facebook group ‘Vegan Revolution’, explained her rationale for excluding family members who consume meat, labeling them as “murderers.”

In her post, she expressed, “When ‘family’ tries to guilt trip you into letting them come to your fully vegan wedding, even though they are omnivores.” She added, “Just for some context, some family members were told they are not invited to my wedding because we don’t want to host murderers at our wedding which is supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives.”

The bride also mentioned the criticism she and her partner faced for their vegan lifestyle and her discomfort with the idea of hosting non-vegans. She stated, “They have consistently attacked me and my partner just for being vegan. When I broke the news to them, all I got was attacked because I don’t want the weight of hosting people that still kill animals (the very beings we are trying to protect) at my wedding on my conscience.”

Furthermore, she required that guests commit to a vegan lifestyle permanently, not just for the wedding day. “I wouldn’t feel comfortable if they just went back to eating meat the next day,” she clarified.

Her post received a barrage of comments, with one person criticizing her approach, “So instead of using the occasion to showcase how awesome vegan food can be without forcing anyone, [you] decide to blackmail [your] entire family and hold the wedding invites hostage.” A fellow vegan added, “There’s a way to celebrate your marriage while remaining true to your lifestyle. Banning non-vegans is insane.”

Another commenter highlighted the flaw in forcing dietary changes, “Anyone who becomes vegetarian/vegan because they’re forced to by other people are doing it for the wrong reasons and will probably become even bigger meat-eaters once they realize what has happened.”

Questions also arose about the bride’s ability to interact with non-vegans in everyday situations. A user asked, “Can she shop in a store that has meat eaters? Can she stop in the store that sells meat? Can she eat in a restaurant? Sounds like you’re involved in some sort of low-key cult and this is how they separate you from your family.”

Others predicted the bride’s social circle would shrink, with one user commenting, “There’s no way she’s keeping any of her friends after this move.”

The extreme nature of the bride’s decision was further confirmed when a screenshot of the post was shared on Reddit. A bridesmaid, who is also the bride’s cousin, revealed she was uninvited because she wasn’t vegan, along with all other bridesmaids. “I just wish she didn’t invite us in the first place if she was planning on having a vegan wedding,” the bridesmaid lamented, noting they had already bought their dresses. She also disclosed that even the bride’s mother was told not to attend.
