Volvo Trucks has unveiled its new FH Electric truck, boasting an impressive range of up to 373 miles on a single charge. This next-generation model, expected to launch in the second half of 2025, doubles the range of its predecessor, which covered around 186 miles. The truck’s breakthrough comes from its innovative e-axle technology, which integrates the electric motors and transmission into the rear axle, freeing up more space for additional batteries and improving efficiency.
The increased range is a game-changer for the long-haul transport industry, addressing one of the main hurdles to adopting electric trucks—range anxiety. This development allows more truck drivers to complete a full workday without needing a recharge. Volvo, which has already delivered over 4,200 electric trucks across 48 countries, aims to solidify its position as a leader in sustainable transport solutions.

The FH Electric’s debut is set to be a major milestone for the company. According to Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks, the new model will be “a great solution for transport companies with a high annual mileage on their trucks and with a strong commitment to reduce CO2.” Initially, the truck will be released in all European markets and select Asian countries.

With Volvo leading the charge, the competition among companies like Tesla and Daimler is heating up. Volvo’s latest offering provides a significant step towards a more eco-friendly future in an industry that accounts for 7% of global carbon emissions. This innovation highlights how technological advancements can contribute to reducing the transport sector’s environmental footprint.
