Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster, which was launched into space in 2018 as part of a SpaceX test mission, is still floating through the cosmos nearly seven years later. The car, with its mannequin driver “Starman,” is currently 239 million miles from Earth and traveling at 3,988 miles per hour toward the Sun.

The Roadster was originally sent into orbit aboard the Falcon Heavy rocket as a publicity stunt, with Musk calling it the “silliest” payload he and his team could come up with. Since then, a website called whereisroadster.com has been tracking its location, showing its vast journey through space.

Inside the car, Musk left a few Easter eggs, including a copy of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and a Hot Wheels model of the same Tesla Roadster. The vehicle’s sound system was also set to play David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” on loop, though the battery is unlikely to still be functioning.

The car has already completed multiple orbits around the Sun, and while it may eventually crash into a planet or asteroid, for now, it remains the fastest car in human history, continuing its endless journey through space.
