Kaylee Muthart, a 25-year-old woman from South Carolina, has transformed her life six years after a traumatic incident where she gouged out her own eyes during a drug-induced psychosis. At the time, Kaylee was battling drug addiction, recovering from a mental breakdown, and dealing with a difficult breakup. She was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder. While hallucinating, she believed that sacrificing her eyes would save the world, leading her to push her fingers into her eyes and pull them out.
The harrowing event took place outside a church and was halted by a pastor who restrained her. Kaylee was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed she would be permanently blind. This shocking incident became a turning point in her life, prompting her to enter rehab and overcome her drug addiction. She also attended a school for the blind and received her first pair of prosthetic eyes in 2020.
Despite the significant challenges, Kaylee has made remarkable progress. She now works at a Jimmy Hula’s restaurant and is pursuing her high school diploma. She lives in Florida with her partner Alex and plans to further her studies in neurobiology.
