Two women were removed from a Spirit Airlines flight after a dispute over their clothing. Teresa Araujo and her friend, Tara Kehidi, were flying from Los Angeles to New Orleans when a male flight attendant allegedly told them to “cover up” because they were wearing crop tops. The situation escalated after the women removed their sweaters due to the heat, leading to them being taken off the flight.

According to Araujo, other passengers tried to defend them, but the airline’s supervisor intervened, threatening to call the police if they didn’t leave the plane. The women were not refunded for the flight and had to purchase tickets with another airline to reach their destination. Araujo shared the incident on social media, where it quickly gained attention.

Spirit Airlines responded by saying they are investigating the incident and pointed to their “Contract of Carriage,” which requires passengers to adhere to certain dress standards. The contract mentions that individuals may be asked to leave if they are “inadequately clothed” or wearing something “lewd, obscene, or offensive.” However, the women argued that crop tops were not mentioned in the airline’s dress code as inappropriate.

The incident has sparked a debate about airline dress codes and passenger rights, with many questioning the decision to remove the women based on their attire. Spirit Airlines is currently in contact with the passengers regarding the matter.
