Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded after his tense meeting with Donald Trump and JD Vance in the Oval Office, where Trump accused him of “gambling with World War Three.”

Following the heated exchange, Zelenskyy took to Twitter to express gratitude for U.S. support, writing, “Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.” He did not directly address Trump’s criticism.

Trump, meanwhile, doubled down on his stance, stating on Truth Social that the meeting revealed Zelenskyy “is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.” He added, “I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”

The exchange has fueled further debate over Trump’s position on U.S. aid to Ukraine, with critics calling his remarks “disrespectful,” while supporters praise his push for de-escalation.
