Shannen Doherty has experienced a significant breakthrough in her challenging stage 4 cancer battle. On a recent episode of her “Let’s Be Clear” podcast, the actress shared that her radiation oncologist, Dr. Amin Mirhadi, introduced her to a new cancer infusion treatment. Initially, after four treatments, there was no noticeable improvement, and her medical team suggested trying something different. However, Doherty requested to continue with the current treatment.
Her persistence paid off, as her body responded positively after the sixth and seventh treatments. Doherty expressed her relief and satisfaction that her health is finally improving after taking a risk with this treatment. She explained that the drug works by breaking down the blood-brain barrier, which often prevents chemotherapy drugs from reaching and destroying brain tumor cells. In her case, the treatment has allowed anti-cancer drugs to penetrate her tumor cells effectively.
Doherty is continuing with this treatment, feeling that her faith and God’s intervention have played a role in her recovery. She was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission after two years of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in 2020 and spread to her brain the following year.
Despite her health struggles, Doherty has remained active in showbiz, refusing to see her cancer diagnosis as a death sentence.
