Tom Hollander Mistakenly Received Tom Holland’s Avengers Paycheck
Tom Hollander, known for his work in “The White Lotus,” shared an amusing mix-up where he received a paycheck intended for Tom Holland, the “Avengers” star, due to their similar names and shared talent agency.

Hollander, with notable roles in “Pride & Prejudice” and “The Night Manager,” contrasted with Holland’s fame as Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe. The confusion between the two actors was highlighted during an episode of “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” where Hollander recounted being mistaken for Holland.

“People in the accounts department of my agency got confused. We were with the same agency, briefly,” Hollander explained, detailing the error that occurred while he was attending a Chekhov play.

Feeling content with his earnings from a BBC project, Hollander was taken aback when he checked his email during the play’s interval. “I got an email from the agency saying, ‘Payment advice slip: your first box-office bonus for “The Avengers,”‘” he shared, realizing the significant mistake.

The mix-up revealed the substantial financial difference between their earnings, with Hollander noting the payment wasn’t even Holland’s salary but a bonus from the film’s earnings. “It was not his salary; it was his first box-office bonus. Not the whole box office, the first one,” Hollander remarked, astounded by the seven-figure sum meant for Holland, who was around 20 years old at the time.

Reflecting on the incident, Hollander humorously concluded, “So my feeling of smugness disappeared very quickly. But that’s showbiz.”
