Jo Koy, the host of the recent Golden Globes, has shared his thoughts on Taylor Swift’s reaction to a joke he made about her, appearing largely unaffected by the incident.
Koy, who took on the hosting role for the first time on January 7, humorously mentioned he was only informed about his hosting duties 10 days prior. This short notice seemed evident as some of his jokes, including one about the Barbie movie, elicited awkward reactions from celebrities like Helen Mirren and Selena Gomez.
However, it was his comment about Taylor Swift, known for her hit “Anti-Hero,” that particularly stood out. Swift, who has been in a high-profile romance with NFL star Travis Kelce, seemed visibly unimpressed by Koy’s remark. Koy quipped to the audience, “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL – on the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift. I swear, there’s just more to go to.” The camera captured Swift’s reaction, which involved a tight-lipped expression and a sip of champagne, adding an awkward silence to the moment.
When asked about Swift’s reaction at the Golden Globes after-party, Koy responded to Entertainment Tonight, “Aww, man, it was cute. I was just saying it was cute,” and clarified that his comment was about the frequency of cutaways.
Swift and Kelce have both commented on the mixed reactions she receives at his games. Swift, in an interview with Time, expressed her indifference, saying, “I’m just there to support Travis,” and humorously addressed the attention she gets onscreen, “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p***ing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Kelce, discussing the matter on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, also acknowledged the excessive focus on Swift during games, admitting, “They’re overdoing it a little bit for sure. Especially my situation.”
Despite the scrutiny, Swift continues to support Kelce at his games, showing her dedication as a partner.
